Short version: the free planner is yours to use; the Household plan is billed yearly or monthly, and cancels in a tap. Bought on this website it is refunded in full within fourteen days if you ask; bought in the iPhone app, refunds are Apple’s. You are an adult, the lunches are your own, and the app is a planning aid, not medical or dietary advice.
Lunch Sorted is made and run by Lila Bloom Enterprises, a sole proprietorship in Maryland, United States (“we”). Using the site or the app means you accept these terms and the privacy policy. You must be at least eighteen to create an account or buy a plan. Children may look at the kid’s-pick screen with you, but an account holder is always an adult.
Free, for as long as you like: one lunchbox, the whole pairing engine, the week’s shopping list, the pack list, and the built-in idea bank to build the food list from. The Household plan adds foods written in your own words, the kid’s-pick screen, the question about what came home, a pantry that remembers what you have, every lunchbox, the other parent’s phone and a caretaker’s pack list, shared with every phone in the household. Every household gets the whole Household plan for its first 21 days, with no card and nothing to cancel; after that the extra pieces pause until you buy the plan, and nothing you added is deleted. We add features over time and occasionally retire ones nobody uses; we will not remove something you paid for during a period you have paid for.
The Household plan is sold yearly or monthly, and is bought one of two ways. A plan bought at a founding price renews at that price for as long as it stays subscribed, bought either way; it ends if the plan is canceled and runs out.
On this website. Prices are shown before you pay, in US dollars, plus any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live. Payment is taken by Stripe on Stripe’s own page; we never see or store your card. A yearly plan renews automatically at the end of each year, and a monthly plan each month, at the price then shown unless it was bought at a founding price; we email you before a yearly plan renews. Bought here during the free three weeks, a plan is first charged when they end (or the day you buy, in their last two days), and renews a year or a month from that day; cancel before then and nothing is charged. Cancel any time from Manage billing under Account → Subscription.
In the iPhone app. The plan is an in-app purchase through the App Store, charged to your Apple Account at the App Store’s price, and Apple takes the payment under its own terms. A yearly or monthly plan bought there renews automatically until you cancel it, in Manage in the App Store under Account → Subscription, or in your iPhone’s Settings.
Either way a canceled plan runs to the end of the period it is on and does not renew, and it is changed where it was bought. If a renewal payment fails it is tried again for a while and the app tells you; if it keeps failing the plan ends and the household drops back to the free plan with everything still there. If the first charge, at the end of the free three weeks, fails, the plan ends then, and comes back if a retry goes through.
Bought on this website: ask within fourteen days of the first charge and we refund it in full, no questions asked. After that a canceled yearly plan is not refunded for the remainder of the year. Write to hello@lunchsorted.app.
Bought in the iPhone app: Apple took the payment, so only Apple can refund it; ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. A refund Apple gives ends the plan it paid for.
Whoever creates a household owns it and can invite, remove, and delete. Anyone you invite as a parent can change the lunches and buy the Household plan; the owner and whoever paid can manage or cancel a plan bought on this website, and a plan bought in the iPhone app is managed by the Apple Account that paid; a caretaker can only check off the pack list. Deleting the account removes the household from our servers and cannot be undone, so export a copy first if you want one. Deleting also ends a plan bought on this website at once. It cannot cancel a plan bought in the iPhone app, because Apple holds that subscription: cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings first, or Apple goes on charging for it. The lunches, names and rules you enter are yours; we store them to run the service and for nothing else, as the privacy policy describes.
Lunch Sorted suggests lunches from the foods you say your child eats and the rules you set. It does not know what is in a product, cannot see an allergen you did not enter, and is not a substitute for reading a label or for advice from your child’s doctor or dietitian. You remain responsible for what goes in the box. For a child with a medical diet or a serious allergy, treat the plan as a starting point and check every item yourself.
The planner works offline once installed, but sync, sign-in and billing need our servers, which are hosted by Netlify and Neon and can be down now and then. We keep backups; you can also copy your lunches out at any time from Account → Account. We may change these terms; when we do, the date at the top changes and a material change is announced in the app before it applies. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.
The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for consumer rights that apply where you live.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If something goes wrong, write to us first; almost everything is sorted in one email.
